About us
CENTER OF EXCELLENCE
OF HEALTHCARE AND PHARMACY SPECIALISTS
Center of Excellence of the Healthcare and Pharmacy Specialists is the leading provider of Excellence development for healthcare and pharmacy specialists. Our goals are:
- To ensure the approval of general and special Excellences acquired by healthcare and pharmacy specialists.
- To organize and implement coordination of the content of training programs in the field of healthcare and pharmacy.
- To take part in the development of legal acts and other documents that regulates the activities of healthcare and pharmacy professionals.
- To organize and implement continuous professional education, informal and continuous education of healthcare and pharmacy professionals.
Together with other specialists, experts and advisors, the specialists of the Center of Excellence develop guidelines; organize Excellence development and assure its quality; carry out projects of the EU Structural Funds; develop international cooperation; cooperate with professional organizations and other partners.
Center of Excellence of Healthcare and Pharmacy Specialists helps to improve visibility and reputation of the practice of healthcare professionals, promotes dissemination of the nursing science and research, promotes and supports international cooperation.
Center of Excellence of Healthcare and Pharmacy Specialists meets the expectations of healthcare and pharmacy specialists from Vilnius region and the entire Lithuania alike.
History:
The institution was established in 1946 under the name Vilnius Training Center and provided training for nurses.
In 1954 the institution was renamed to National Training Courses for Medical Professionals.
In 1994 Center of Professional Training and Specialization of Nurses was established on the basis of Training Courses.
In 2015, the institution was renamed to Center of Excellence of Healthcare and Pharmacy Specialists with new responsibilities and functions.
Center of Excellence of Healthcare and Pharmacy Specialists continues the activities of its predecessors. In pursuance of its responsibilities Center of Excellence of Healthcare and Pharmacy Specialists provides training services in its central office in Vilnius and branches in Kaunas, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Klaipėda, Druskininkai and Utena. Training courses are provided for approximately 30 000 nurses and other healthcare professionals. Center also actively participates in the programs of professional reorientation.
In 1997, the Center started publishing the magazine “Slauga. Mokslas ir praktika” (“Nursing. Science and practice”) for nurses and other medical professionals. In 2015, the magazine became a member of the Association of Lithuanian Periodicals and was involved in the list of citable publications.
On July 29, 2016 National EQM Service represented by Lithuanian Association of Adult Education (LAAE) awarded our Center the Certificate No 01-2016 confirming that Center of Excellence of Healthcare and Pharmacy Specialists conforms European Quality Mark (EQM) quality criteria for the providers of informal adult education.
